Hello, I'm Tanja, founder of pegapigsDESIGNS.
I live in Lower Bavaria with my husband and son.
I've been a guinea pig owner since 2010 and currently have three pigs: Sir Lancelot, Bernsteinröschen (Bernie), and Goldblüte (Goldie).
Art has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, but I never imagined that I would one day become a professional artist.
I love my work, and it's wonderful that so many people in different countries love my creations.

Why pegapiggies?
The idea for the pegapigs was born in 2010 when I had to develop a concept for an art exhibition in 2011 for school. The theme was ‘Fantasy & Reality’. I had a favourite necklace with a Pegasus pendant. So I had my theme: Pegasus.
At that time, I had my first two guinea pigs, Kiwi and Bungie. I made drawings and relief prints of Kiwi and Bungie. With wings, hence pegapiggies. The idea behind it was that guinea pigs and horses are the ‘reality’ and Pegasus are well-known creatures that don't exist but are depicted as if they could really exist, so why not make guinea pigs with wings too (the ‘fantasy’ part of the theme).

And then came pegapigsDESIGNS
When I started my business in early 2018, I knew I wanted to honour my beloved pigs (they had already crossed the rainbow bridge) by naming my business pegapigsDESIGNS. At first, I tried unsuccessfully to sell fine art prints of my drawings and pegapiggy artworks.
After discovering other artists who created figurines with polymer clay, I wanted to try it too. I really enjoyed it. At first, I made small ice cream sundae paper clips and little ice cream creatures. Then I started making pegapigs and I haven't stopped ever since.
The pegapiggy land
My fantasy pegapigs have their own little universe with realms and stories. Other creatures, such as quaps and pegawiehis, also live with the pegapiggies. In addition to my fantasy creations, I also make figurines of beloved animals, which is special and meaningful.
